Shanghai Ji Ai Genetics & IVF Institute

Shanghai Ji Ai Genetics & IVF Institute, jointly developed and established in December 1997 by the Affiliated Ob/Gyn Hospital with Fudan University (the Red House Hospital, originally the Affiliated Ob/Gyn Hospital with Shanghai Medical University) and Genetics & IVF Institute, USA (GIVF USA), is a specialized medical center providing treatment and diagnosis in the areas of human genetics and infertility. It got the human assisted reproductive technology certificate by the Ministry of Health in February 2007. The technology provides as follows: AIH, IVF-ET, ICSI-ET, PTSA/PESA, FET, AH, egg frozen, prenatal diagnosis, CVS, etc.

It has an extraordinarily strong and experienced medical team, comprising of 15 full and associate professors, 13 PhD and MS level scientists and a number of senior chief physicians. 

Shanghai Ji Ai is mainly equipped with three clinical and laboratory divisions: female infertility, male infertility and genetics. With the accomplishment of over 10000/10,000 clinical pregnancies since its founding 13 years ago, about 8600 babies were born. The IVF success rate has topped 40%, taking the lead in China and the world as well. In addition, the Center was the first in China to achieve success in the following areas: 

1) The first to combine non-invasive PTSA (percutaneous testicular sperm aspiration) with IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment in China, enabling more than hundreds of patients with obstructive azoospermia to have children of their own;

2) The first to achieve an ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) birth in the eastern part of China;

3) The first to successfully use the embryo cryopreservation technology in the eastern part of China, with over 40% clinical pregnancy rate; 

4) Shanghai's first frozen egg birth in June 2006; and the first vitrified egg birth in April 2010. 

The genetic department undertakes all genetic counseling and cytogenetic diagnostic work. FISH has been applied to the traditional cytogenetic field since 2002, and contributed to clinical applications for cellular and molecular genetics of combination, including fast prenatal diagnosis of down syndrome, SRY gene diagnosis, sex chromosome abnormality auxiliary diagnosis,etc. We have accumulated rich experience in FISH diagnostic technology. The prenatal diagnosis program is well-known in Yangtze Delta Area with low postoperative complications, the cultivation of nearly 100% success rate, zero misdiagnosed, and zero accidents.
